Outdoor Sumps
Get standing water away from the building.
Around here the problem is usually a flat yard, heavy clay and a spring melt with nowhere to go. Water sits against a foundation, finds the low point of a crawlspace, or turns an approach into a slough every April.
What an outdoor sump does
We excavate a pit at the low point, set a properly bedded sump with a screened basin, and run a discharge line to somewhere the water can actually leave — far enough out that it is not simply cycling back.
Usually paired with grading
A sump on its own treats the symptom. Most of the time we also correct the grade or cut a swale so surface water heads for the sump instead of the building. We will tell you which of the two your yard actually needs.
Key points
- Sump pit, basin and discharge line
- Diagnosis of where the water is actually coming from
- Paired with regrading where that is the real fix
